Blast Leaves Five Soldiers Dead in Pakistan

(MENAFN) At least five Pakistani soldiers, including a young officer, were killed in a deadly improvised explosive device (IED) attack in the southwestern Balochistan region, the military reported on Tuesday.

The explosion occurred on Monday in the Sher Bandi area of Kech district, located in Balochistan, according to a statement from Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

In response to the blast, security forces launched a rapid clearance operation in the area, resulting in the deaths of five militants.

The ISPR statement confirmed that the "sanitization operation" is ongoing, aimed at neutralizing any remaining insurgents in the region.

Balochistan, which shares borders with both Iran and Afghanistan, continues to be a hotspot for militant activity as Pakistan struggles to combat insurgency in the province.
