Iran Vows Ceasefire Commitment If Israel Honors Deal
During a phone conversation with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Pezeshkian accused Israel and its allies of attempting to incite unrest within Iran.
“The Iranian people, despite hardships and grievances, stood united and unwavering against the opposite side,” his office quoted him as saying.
The president further alleged direct U.S. involvement in the conflict, stepping in when Israel “failed to reach its goals.” He condemned Washington for “violating international law” by targeting Iranian nuclear sites.
Pezeshkian emphasized Iran’s willingness to engage in talks, stating the country is prepared “to reclaim the Iranian nation’s rightful demands at the negotiating table.”
Since June 13, Israel has carried out airstrikes on multiple Iranian military and nuclear installations, accusing Tehran of nearing nuclear weapon capability—a charge Iran strongly denies.
In response, Iran launched missile and drone attacks, while the U.S. escalated the situation by striking three Iranian nuclear facilities on Sunday.
Following nearly two weeks of intense aerial clashes between the longtime regional rivals, US President Donald Trump declared overnight a ceasefire aimed at ending hostilities between Israel and Iran.
