Iran states it will honor truce if Israel doesn’t violate agreement
During a phone conversation with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Pezeshkian stated that Israel and its allies had attempted to incite unrest within Iran. “The Iranian people, despite hardships and grievances, stood united and unwavering against the opposite side,” his office quoted him as saying.
The Iranian president accused the United States of direct involvement in the conflict alongside Israel after Israel failed to achieve its objectives. He condemned Washington for “violating international law” through its strikes on Iranian nuclear sites.
Pezeshkian emphasized that Iran remains open to dialogue and is prepared “to reclaim the Iranian nation’s rightful demands at the negotiating table.”
The conflict began on June 13 when Israel launched airstrikes targeting multiple locations in Iran, including military and nuclear facilities, citing concerns that Tehran was close to developing a nuclear weapon—a claim Iran strongly denied.
Iran responded with missile and drone attacks against Israel. The United States further escalated the conflict by bombing three Iranian nuclear sites on Sunday.
After 12 days of aerial clashes between the two regional rivals, US President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire late Monday to end hostilities between Israel and Iran.
