Turkish Parliament Speaker Says Syria’s Territorial Integrity is Non-Negotiable
Kurtulmus emphasized that a participatory system with fair representation for all groups and a democratic framework would serve as “the region’s insurance.”
In a social media statement, he noted that Türkiye is closely monitoring and supporting steps toward Syria’s political integration. He highlighted that full compliance with the memorandum signed between the Syrian government and the YPG/SDF on March 10, 2025, as well as the provisions of the January 30 agreement, would contribute to peace in Syria and stability across the region.
“As commitments are implemented, real peace will be achieved," he said.
Describing the agreements’ aim of gradual military and administrative integration as “a major opportunity,” Kurtulmus said they could enhance Syria’s state capacity and pave the way for a new regional security structure.
He stressed that no identity or belief should be excluded, asserting that every Syrian must have an “honorable and secure” role in the political system, while warning that fragmentation and proxy structures fail to bring lasting peace.
