China Identifies Five Strategic Lessons from US-Israeli Strikes on Iran

(MENAFN) China’s military has identified five key lessons it believes emerge from the recent United States-Israel attacks on Iran, cautioning against over-reliance on external powers and unwarranted confidence in peace.

The official military media account, China Military Bugle, published a bilingual graphic on the social media platform X on Tuesday, accompanied by commentary on the strikes, which targeted government, military, and nuclear facilities. The attacks reportedly killed Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei along with top Iranian commanders in Tehran, prompting retaliatory strikes on US and Israeli positions in the Gulf.

The first lesson highlighted is that internal betrayal is the deadliest threat. This appears to reference the anti-government protests in Iran, which authorities claim were encouraged by foreign powers. Reports also suggested that Khamenei’s assassination became feasible after alleged hacking of Tehran’s CCTV system by Israeli intelligence, underscoring the dangers posed by internal vulnerabilities.

The second lesson stresses that blind faith in peace is the costliest miscalculation. The Chinese commentary warns against assuming stability or security without preparing for potential threats, highlighting the importance of realistic threat assessments.

The third point emphasizes that superior firepower often dictates outcomes. China notes that military capability can decisively shape the course of conflicts, illustrating the influence of hard power in strategic calculations.

The fourth lesson cautions against the illusion of victory. This reflects the long-term consequences seen after US interventions in countries such as Iraq, Syria, and Libya, where short-term gains were often followed by prolonged instability and unintended blowback.

Finally, the fifth takeaway is that self-reliance is the true guarantee of sovereignty. Beijing stresses that national independence and the ability to defend oneself are essential for maintaining control over a country’s security and political future.

China has condemned the strikes as “unacceptable” and criticized what it described as the “blatant killing of a sovereign leader and the incitement of regime change.” Beijing also called for an immediate cessation of hostilities and a return to diplomatic engagement.
